A packaged rooftop unit contains all air conditioning component, the evaporator coil, fan, compressor, and condense are all within one cabinet, it’s considered a packaged unit. Rooftop units that also provide heating often contain a gas heat exchanger downstream from the evaporator fan. In heating mode, return air is discharged into the heater and blows over gas-fired coils. A fan then sends newly heated supply air back into the building.
For Commercial applications, Packaged Rooftop Units are installed on the roof of the building or they can be installed on a slab at ground level. Unlike a split system where there is an outside and indoor part to the HVAC system, Packaged Rooftop Units have all the components built into the unit. They are made to withstand the Miami Valley typical weather of rain, sun, frost, wind, heat, and other conditions. They provide commercial buildings space saving options since the unit doesn’t need an indoor unit. Depending on the older unit a curb adapter may be needed for the new unit to install correctly.
Air enters the unit via the air hood on the side, it passes through dampers on the inside that regulates the airflow, and than the air goes through the systems air filtration. Next, the air is either heated or cooled (depending on the system configuration and the current operating mode) and circulates through the ductwork inside the building.
Hauck Bros., Inc. helps Miami Valley business heat and cool their buildings safely and efficiently. Our team installs, repairs, and maintains Packaged Rooftop Units throughout the area. We are well versed in county and city permits, regulations, codes, and requirements.
Heat Pump, the standard Packaged Rooftop Unit in the Miami valley is a heat pump system. The heat pump provides cooling and heating needs which works well with our weather. They can come as either electric or gas heating. Depending on the model and application the units can come with up to two cooling stages and up to 3 heating stages. This ensures the unit is as efficient as possible.
We do offer some Packaged Rooftop Units that provide air conditioning only, in the Miami Valley this typically applies to specific commercial applications.
Packaged Rooftop Units systems provide energy efficient heating and cooling comfort to your home or business. Depending on the model, you can expect each unit to keep you cold or warm depending in the season, no matter how bad it gets. Not only are the units quiet but they also improve the air quality to keep your air clean and healthy. Air purification can be added to most models to provide even more comfort and ensure your business air is as safe as possible.
Installation Options
Sized for any application, Packaged Rooftop Units come in sizes ranging from 3-27.5 tons and can deliver SEERs as high as 15.8 and EERs up to 12.8. Some units can be installed vertically or horizontally. Bryant Rooftop Units (RTU) are designed to match older models of Bryant and the curb adapter may be able to be used again.
Direct Drive ECM motor
Depending on the application and the size required, Packaged Rooftop Units are now being made without a belt and instead have a direct-drive ECM motor. This improves the reliability and efficiency while making the unit easier to maintain.
Streamlined Control and Integration
Bryant controllers make connecting Preferred rooftops into existing building automation systems easy. The units are compatible with conventional thermostat, programmable thermostats and the Bryant RTU Open multi-protocol controller interface with BACnet®, Modbus®, Johnson Controls® N2 or LonWorks® protocols.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating)
SEER is a ratio of the amount of cooling produced (BTU) divided by the amount of electricity (watts) used. The difference between SEER and EER is that SEER accounts for changes in outside temperature instead of just one temperature. EER should be used as a comparison when the outside temperature is consistently over 95 degrees F.
The higher the SEER the greater the outdoor condenser efficiency could be. We offer Packaged Rooftop Units up to 15.8 SEER.
Packaged Rooftop Units are made for commercial use, we do not recommend DIY on commercial applications. We do offer customer maintenance plans to ensure year round protection
