Tipp City is a small city located about 15 miles north of Dayton, Ohio. It is positioned in Miami County and had a population of approximately 9,918 in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau. Tipp City is located in the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Tipp City was originally named Tippecanoe City and was founded in 1840. Due to its location along the Miami and Erie Canal, Tippecanoe City was a popular resting place for boatmen. The original downtown was home to many bars and a red light district. As the population of Tippecanoe City grew, it merged with Hyattsville.
