New Carlisle is located in Clark County, with a total population of 5,785 residents. New Carlisle was incorporated as a city in 1973 and is home to the infamous, John Dillinger, an American gangster in the depression-era, who committed his first bank robbery taking $10,000 from the New Carlisle National Bank. The building which housed the bank still stands to this day. New Carlisle is also home to Roy J. Plunkett, an American chemist who discovered Teflon.
In New Carlisle, the summers are long, warm, and humid; the winters are freezing and windy, and it is partly cloudy year round. In the winter, temperatures can dip below freezing at night and snowfall is common during these months.
