West Jefferson is found within a humid continental climate zone consisting of four seasons throughout the year. Summers tend to be hot and humid, and average highs in July will reach the mid-80s. However, with the possibility of 90 degree weather that feels even warmer with the mugginess, residents are wise to invest in central air to keep their homes comfortable during these months.
Winters in West Jefferson are usually cold but moderately dry, as the community only experiences about two feet of snow per year. However, the village is not immune to severe weather with blizzards, which do occur periodically. High temperatures may reach the mid-30s during the day, but lows will only reach the low-20s overnight. A reliable heat pump or furnace will be vital to making it through this season without worrying about your pipes or plumbing work freezing and requiring a major repair.
